Dementia Companion Service
Dragon's Den Finalist 2019
Dementia Companions with Interim Chief Executive,
Seamus McGoran.
The overall purpose of the dementia companion role
is to enhance the safety and experience for patients
living with dementia who are admitted to an Acute
Care Ward by creating ward environments that are
both person-centred and dementia friendly.
Eight Dementia Companions have been recruited
and have taken up post in May 2019 in the South
Eastern HSC Trust to provide this valuable Service to
dementia patients in our three acute hospitals.
The Service was proud to be finalists in the Trust's
SQE Dragon's Den competition.
