New appointments in Public Health Nursing
In 2019 the professional nursing structure was strengthened with the
appointment of a new staff.
Lead Nurse Helen Leigh was appointed in February 2019. Helen has
been in the South Eastern HSC Trust as a Health Visitor since 2001,
and for the last 10 years as a Nurse Manager and then Sector Manager.
Appointed to the new Lead Nurse post, Helen is at the helm of the
regional Multi-Disciplinary Team Pilot and has successfully led health
visiting to a full roll out in the Down GP Federation area.
Helen leads on Public Health Nursing development, focussing on early
years. Helen also successfully completed the ASPIRE Leadership
course from September 2018 to April 2019.
The HSC Leadership Centre's Regional Leading Edge Development
Programme for Senior Managers across the HSC system incorporates
latest research with regards to leadership and leadership development
methods and was aligned with the new HSC Collective Leadership
Strategy.
Deirdre Ward was appointed to Lead Nurse, Public Health Nursing,
in September 2019. Deirdre held the post of Nurse Manager in the
Southern Trust for 6 years. Deirdre has longstanding experience in
