Implementation of recommendations from
South Eastern HSC Trust
International Nursing
During 2019 we as a Trust have supported 40 international nurses pass their Nursing & Midwifery
Council (NMC) Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and therefore progress to working
as a Registered Nurse within our wards.
The NMC OSCE tests the
nurse's fundamental clinical
skills including assessment,
planning care and drug
management.
Up to now we have been able
to provide a dedicated learning
environment which provides
our international nursing staff
with a safe learning atmosphere
built on the ethos of support,
nurturing, open and honest
feedback.
The OSCE Support Team comprises of the Trust's
Clinical Nurse Educators and a range of specialist
nurses who give up their time to come and work with the
international staff, sharing their experience, knowledge
and encouragement.
As a Team we aim to provide our international nurses
with a sense of confidence to transfer their nursing skills
onto our busy wards, through clinical practice scenarios,
clinical practice challenge and engagement.
We are privileged to welcome our international nursing
staff who all personally have given up much to come
and develop their nursing knowledge and skills in our
Trust and we are extremely proud of their dedication
and achievements thus far.
