F
ollowing their very successful
debut during King's Arts Week
2007, this year's Textile students
need no further introduction. All
attained either an A* or A at
GCSE level, which is testament to
their motivation, energy and enthusiastic
commitment to a subject they have undoubtedly
enjoyed. As their work has evolved, they have
taken increasing responsibility for individual
research into the professional practices of artists
and fashion designers, which has lead to a
sophisticated understanding of the links between
the art world and contemporary fashion.
Once again, the sphere of 'Fashion' proved to
be a prominent option within the Textile
course, and attending The Clothes Show Live
at the NEC in Birmingham was a glittering
highlight. The latest catwalk innovations from
the leading art colleges in the country were
available for detailed analysis and scrutiny and
the whole experience was inspirational.
Some pupils will continue their art studies at
'AS' level and we shall look forward to further
exciting developments in the future!
Meanwhile, the current 5th form waits
patiently in the wings; it will be a hard act to
follow, but they are working at it, and we
expect to hear more from them very shortly!
