t all began on Saturday 22nd
September. We had waited a long time
for this day after our English partners
had visited us in Sangerhausen back in
March 2007, but finally it had come.
Really happy and excited we started
out on our trip to Taunton at 3.00 pm. We
were taken to Berlin to fly to Bristol where a
school minibus awaited us. On arrival at
King's at midnight we were collected by our
partners and it was really nice to see them
again. The next day was Sunday and the only
'free' day, so some of us spent it with our host
families, whilst others stayed at school and
enjoyed a trip to the Moscow State Circus and
found our way around King's.
After being greeted by the Headmaster on
Monday morning we had our first experience of
lessons with our partners (in very smart dress)
and walked into town to discover Taunton in
the afternoon. Tuesday was our first trip which
was to Cardiff where we visited the castle and
had some free time in the city centre, followed
by a visit to the Museum of Welsh Life (St
Fagans) which was really interesting to see.
On Wednesday we had another taste of lessons
at King's, and in the afternoon we watched a
rugby match between King's and Exeter which
was very exciting. It was a new experience for
us because we don't do this kind of sport at
our school and the boys really enjoyed
themselves.
On the next day we went on our second trip.
First we were taken to Plymouth to visit the
Mayflower Museum and the Aquarium, and
later we continued to Exeter where we visited
the cathedral with a very informative tour in
German followed by some time to shop.
Friday was our last day in school with time
spent in lessons again, which included an
innovative drama lesson, followed by building
our very own hi-fi system in physics! In the
afternoon we visited Taunton Museum before
returning to school and preparing for our
farewell celebration at Hollywood Bowl which
was great fun for everyone.
On Saturday we combined a trip to London
with our journey home. Firstly we toured
Kensington Palace, followed by seeing some of
the London sights before heading off to Luton
for our return flight to Berlin. We were looking
forward to seeing our family and friends again,
but we had a really great time at King's and
would like to come back again.
