ith seven victories
and just two defeats,
the Junior Colts can
look back on their
season with great
satisfaction. We
dominated from the beginning against
Cheltenham in an impressive 3-1 victory, Dom
Bracher the hat-trick hero, and Sam
Merriweather's workrate outstanding. We
dominated again in the Queen's fixture, and
created multiple scoring opportunities.
Dominic Bracher opened the scoring, followed
by a second from George Wayman, with
Queen's snatching a late consolation goal.
We had a very competitive game against
Millfield, leading twice, and 2-1 up with ten
minutes to go. Millfield's perseverance told in
the end, but it was an excellent game in which
we showed great commitment and
determination. It was champagne hockey a few
days later against Exeter School. There was a
second hat-trick of the season for Dominic
Bracher - other goalscorers were George
Wayman (2), Sam Merriweather, Joe Watts and
Jamie Grantham.
The Sherborne fixture resulted in a superb
victory, coming back from behind twice in the
match. There were moments of excellent
structure, and some fine finishing, with George
Wayman and Dominic Bracher scoring twice
each. In an excellent display against a highlyrated
Canford side, defence was tenacious, and
goals flowed through William Walters and Taylor
Buller, with a hat-trick for George Wayman.
Against Taunton School we took a 2-0 lead into
the half-time interval, thanks to goals from
George Wayman and William Walters. The
second half was less impressive, with Hikaru
Ichikawa forced
into making
several good
saves, but
Dominic Bracher
scored a
breakaway goal to
seal the win.
In the final game
of the season,
Clifton took an
early lead, only
for us to come
back and lead at
the interval 2-1. It was close at 3-2, but we
sealed the match - and an outstanding season
- with goals for Jamie Grantham (2), and one
each for William Walters, George Wayman and
Dominic Bracher.
T
here were six wins and just
two narrow defeats for the Bs,
matching the excellent season
of the As. The Queen's fixture
was a terrific game, and we
perhaps should have scored
more than the single goal by Nick Mason that
secured victory. There was great work from the
midfield, and silky attacking skills from David
McNeill.
Against Millfield we ran out comfortable 6-2
winners, doing well to come back from an early
goal down. There were two goals apiece for
Nick Mason and Sam Vickery, with David
McNeill and Tom Sharp both figuring on the
scoresheet. We dominated for long periods of
the Sherborne game, with David McNeill and
Howard Hollis scoring good goals from open
play. Unfortunately we conceded three
disappointing breakaway goals.
Against Canford we secured a well-fought
victory. Our first goal was a particularly fine
effort from Nick Mason, and a great save by
Nuno Akarapongpisak at the end ensured the
win. It was an even match against Taunton
School, and we needed grit and determination
to secure the win, Aron Marshall scoring the
decisive goal. In their first ever game, the Cs
played with great determination and skill,
dominating from the outset. James Purdy
slotted home the winner after magnificent buildup
play - an unbeaten season!
We enjoyed a convincing win against King's
Bruton, with linking play particularly good,
especially up the right. Goals came from Sam
Vickery, Henry Close, David McNeill and Nick
Mason. The Clifton fixture was a close-fought,
intense game. Man of the match was skipper
Tom Sharp, and there were two good goals to
round off our season in style.
