The Wall ?
by
Claire Jasper
The wall stands between us;
You and me,
Red brick
Creeper covered,
Two sides,
One obstacle.
What to do
When separated.
Two walls,
Two sides,
Two phantom realities,
Two hearts entwined.
One wall between,
Society
Or state of mind,
Politically
Or laterally,
Long distant
Or too short,
Relationship
Or partnership,
Disaster area
Crumbled stone,
Earthquake.
Parted.
Forever.
For a day.
Smiles through glass,
Across that room,
Unspoken words,
Different cultures
Silent treaties;
Married life
Old age,
Past.
Future.
This day,
That night,
Time spent
Rift in space.
Soul and body.
Together, separated, forever.
