C
ongratulations to the entire
3rd form on their quite
brilliant production of Beatrix
Potter tales. They performed
these adaptations to an
audience of local primary
school children, and later to parents as part of
Arts Week. It's never easy going on stage as a
duck or a rabbit, especially at their age, but
none showed the slightest nervousness or
embarrassment.
In Set A's performance, they brilliantly
portrayed not just the characters in Squirrel
Nutkin, but also the 'humans' as well. Set B
gave delightful interpretations of Jemima
Puddleduck and Peter Rabbit, while Set C
caused a real uproar with their rendition of
Pigling Bland and Jeremy Fisher.
Set D was endearing in the Flopsy Bunnies and
the Tailor of Gloucester, and Set E charmed
their audiences with their interpretations of The
Tale of Two Bad Mice and Tom Kitten.
Not only did every single 3rd former perform on
stage, but with the expert help of Miss Nutt
made masks for some 70 pigs, rabbits,
squirrels, foxes, ducks, hedgehogs, owls, frogs,
newts, kittens, dogs, tortoises, mice, fish and
birds! All looked thoroughly professional in
both design and construction.
But perhaps the greatest congratulations should
be reserved for their ambassadorship. They
were gracious hosts and hostesses to the 200
reception-aged children from five local primary
schools. They represented King's in a mature
and welcoming manner, and should all be very
proud of themselves. I know their parents were
in Arts Week.
