Under 14T
he Under 14s started their
season with a terrific first
victory at King's, running out
eventual winners by 6-3 over
Blundell's. Against Taunton
School, the new pairing of
Megan Ameye and Kitty McIntosh swept to victory
6-0, 6-0, 6-0, as the team won 6-3 again.
Tori Clark and Hebe Mills continued their
unbeaten run from the previous week as we
squeezed out a narrow 5-4 victory over
Wellington. It was unfortunate that we were
missing key players in our next match because
of an athletics competition. Millfield always
prove strong opposition, and the team did
really well to lose by just 5-4.
Against Sherborne, Tori Clark and Charlotte
Palmer formed a new partnership, and played
outstanding tennis, winning all their sets.
Elsewhere there were some really tight games,
which were all played out with great
determination.
And in the final fixture of the season, the
Ameye-Thomson partnership continued to
flourish with yet another three-game win, as we
finished our season with a comfortable 8-1 win
over Queen's. There is much to look forward to
next year!
T
he Bs had a mixed season,
the highlights of which were
the overwhelming win over
Taunton School, and victories
against Wellington and
Canford. The Blundell's
afternoon was a desperately close fixture, just
losing out in the end 4-5. But against local
rivals Taunton School, Henni Thomson and
Connie Holmes really made their mark, winning
6-0, 6-2, 6-0, and helping us to our 8-1 win.
We were on the victory trail again the following
week against Wellington, when we won 6-3.
This was largely thanks to the excellent
partnership between Megan Ameye and Kitty
McIntosh, who won all three of their sets.
The Canford match resulted in a terrific 6-3
win. There was great tennis from Charlotte
Palmer and Martha Gray who played
consistently well, and Hennie Thomson too
played with determination all match. It was a
tough afternoon though against Millfield. It was
the first fixture for some, so they learnt a lot,
but it was nonetheless a very enjoyable match.
Against Sherborne we had a very competitive
fixture. Hennie Thomson and Megan Ameye in
particular played some really good tennis, and
should be pleased with their wins against
strong opposition. This was the afternoon we
had an Under 14 C team out for the first time
this year, and although the girls lost, they
thoroughly enjoyed the chance to represent the
school in a competitive fixture.
In the Bs' final fixture of the seasons, Megan
Scott put in a particularly determined
performance, whilst Charlotte Parris impressed
the crowd with her extensive range of racquet
skills! A thoroughly enjoyable season then, and
we're all looking forward to renewing hostilities
next year!
