A 3rd XI corner

he 2ndXI started their season
with a difficult afternoon against
Millfield, finding themselves
having to defend for large
periods of the game against
powerful opposition. QEH
Bristol though was a different story, as we picked
up our first point of the season. Josh Brooksbank
scored a beautiful goal into the top left-hand
corner from a free-kick, in a 1-1 draw in which
Alex Johnstone and Lenny Koch were outstanding.
We had an excellent first half against Sherborne,
with Josh Brooksbank again featuring on the
scoresheet, this time a magnificent goal after
just two minutes from the right-hand edge of the
penalty box. The side then showed great
determination to grind out a 2-2 draw, with Ben
Jones named man of the match.
An accomplished Bristol Cathedral 1st XI team
took us by surprise to score two goals in the
first half. King's managed to salvage something
from the game by grabbing a consolation goal
in the second half. And against Bristol
Grammar, a battling performance saw us hold
out for a 1-1 draw. A challenging season in
many ways, but a thoroughly enjoyable one.

he 3rds squad of 15 travelled
to Blundell's for their first
outing of the season, and
secured an impressive 4-1
win, with goals from Ian
Hargreaves, Ed Dawson and
Fritz Heine. At 4-0 up Doug Love spectacularly
failed to convert a penalty, while Blundell's
scored a late consolation goal. Man of the
match James Miller made several impressive
saves in a memorable encounter.
Against QEH Bristol we were yet again
impressive, in an excellent game that finished
in a 2-2 draw. Starting well against Sherborne,
we soon went ahead with a goal from Ed
Dawson, but just before the interval a couple of
defensive lapses gave Sherborne a half-time 21
lead. A resolute second-half performance
enabled us to equalise with a superb header by
Richard Dawson, leaving us unbeaten after four
matches!
Our unbeaten season was preserved in the final
game of the season, when four goals from Ed
Dawson helped the us to a 5-4 victory over
Bristol Grammar - a spectacular way to round
off a great season!
