upils and staff celebrated another
superb set of A Level results. We
achieved one of our best ever
performances, with 63% of
subjects passed at A or B grade,
an increase of 10% on last year.
Amy Higgs excelled with four A grades in
Biology, Chemistry, English and French.
Alexandra Wynn, winner of the Taunton Young
Musician of the Year 2008, also achieved
excellent results, with A grades in Music and
English and a B for German. Head Boy, Martin
Zacherl, achieved four As in German, Greek,
Latin and Business Studies, and now goes on
to study Classics at Oxford University.
In their GCSEs, 56% of our 5th form achieved
A* and A grades, an increase of 5% from last
year. A remarkable 100% of pupils achieved at
least 5 A to C grades, with all pupils gaining a
C or above in English and Maths.
Harry Canning, Isabel Petri, Oliver Jones and
Charis Elphinstone all achieved 10 A* grades,
while Molly Byles achieved 9 A*s. ? check

A major new environmental initiative, the
King's Sustainability Strategy, has been
launched, to examine recycling at King's,
how we use transport, and our energy and
water usage.
Henry Walker, Hannah Cartwright and Jordan Webb won the branch final of
the English Speaking Union Public Speaking Competition.
In the UK Intermediate Maths Challenge,
a record 21 of our 3rd form were
certificate winners. With over 200,000
entries nationally, Charles Marshall and
Freddie Barker finished in the top 400 in
their year and qualify for the Olympiad.
