O
ur season began with a
very high spirited victory,
30-11 against West
Somerset Community
College. We soon took an
unassailable lead, with
excellent work from shooters Issy Germain and
Megane Scott. Wellington was a tough match,
but despite the score we played well and there
were some excellent performances from Martha
Gray and Issy Germain.
We were unlucky to face Queen's on a wet and
slippery court. We made many interceptions, but
gave the ball away too easily. Against West
Buckland we played with great energy, and there
was some excellent shooting from Charlotte Parris.
The Canford fixture was a very, very close match,
with only three goals separating us in a highscoring
game. This was maybe our best match of
the season, with great performances in defence
from Francesca Fender and Kate Webster.
Against Stoodley Knowle we started slowly,
with the team finding it hard to read the pace
of the game. The game was lost in the 2nd
quarter, but we drew all the other quarters.
King's Bruton was one of our best games of the
season. The ball travelled around the court at
great speed, and there were great performances
by Issy Germain, Megane Scott, Megan Ameye,
Hebe Mills, Tory Clark, Amelia Evans, Kate
Webster and player of the match Francesca
Fender.
Clean passing from every one against Clifton
resulted in a 27-15 win, and our season was
on a roll! Against Blundell's we got an early
lead, and were able to maintain this throughout
the game. The conditions were very difficult,
but a 20-14 win made sure our season ended
on a real high!
T
he Bs' season started on a
high, writes Charlotte Parris,
with an excellent win against
Wellington. We had pleasing
performances all over the
court, especially with
dominance in defence and consistent shooting.
After this victorious start, we unfortunately lost
against Queen's. It was a close game, that
could have easily gone either way, and
throughout the match we were neck and neck.
We next played Castle School's As, when we
played with great energy. After losing the first
quarter we came back with great determination,
marking tightly and coming out winners in the
end. Against Canford, we made many
interceptions, but unfortunately lost, although we
learned from the mistakes we had made. At
Stoodley Knowle we perhaps didn't play our best,
but learned that we had to be more consistent.
On into the season and we had excellent wins
against Taunton School and Clifton, where the
team's progress really showed. They were two
tough oppositions, but our defence won many
of the rebounds from the goal, especially
Charlotte Palmer and Kate Webster.
Lastly, we had our final match against
Blundell's, played in fierce winds! Throughout
the match the score stayed very close, but
towards the end Blundell's shot well, leaving
the final score 12-17. Everyone played
exceptionally well and would all have been my
player of the match! Overall, we had a
wonderful season, and a big thank you to Miss
Harvey and Mrs Vile, who taught us so much
during the term.
