T
wo disappointing losses in the
middle of the season shouldn't
detract from some outstanding
cricket played during the term.
It all started with a dominant
win over King's Bruton, taking
just 16 overs to bowl out the opposition for 46,
Taylor Buller taking four wickets and Dominic
Bracher two, with great catches by Will Walters
and Chris Griffiths. In reply we lost two early
wickets, but Dominic Bracher and George
Wayman saw us home comfortably.
Bowling first again, we dismissed Queen's for
77, with Milo Reynolds and Chris Griffiths the
pick of the bowlers. Dominic Bracher (30 not
out) and Taylor Buller (30) then batted very
positively on a difficult surface to secure a wellearned
victory. Canford though was a
disappointing afternoon. An excellent fielding
and bowling performance wasn't enough to
make up for a poor batting display, with Sam
Merriweather the only batsman to apply
himself in scoring 39 well-thought out runs.
The temporary mid-season blip continued as
Clifton finished on 179, despite superb bowling
by Milo Reynolds and Taylor Buller. Chris
Griffiths (20) and Joe Watts (16) both tried to
apply themselves, but we fell well short. We
bounced back against Taunton School though.
Milo Reynolds and Taylor Buller were the pick
of the bowlers as we bowled them out cheaply
on a difficult batting wicket. George Wayman
and Dominic Bracher knocked off the runs to
win convincingly by eight wickets.
We saved our best batting display of the term
for the Monmouth game, George Wayman
contributing a fine 51, with Taylor Buller
finishing on 43. Milo Reynolds then continued
to show his excellent form with the ball by
taking 4 for 14 as Monmouth fell 30 runs
short. Important lessons were learnt about the
need for consistency, but this is a team of
immense talent, who will do well in the future.
T
he Bs had a slow start to the
season, writes XXX, with two
early matches being rained
off. We bowled out Queen's
for 88 due to some fantastic
bowling from William Griffiths
and Oliver Harris. Nick Mason hit a quick 68
not out as we won by 10 wickets. Nick Mason
and George Lang put on a 130-run partnership
against Canford, who put up a great chase,
before James Pardy on debut took a great catch
to finish their innings and win the match.
Against Clifton Will Griffiths had a very good
spell, taking five wickets. We lost an early wicket
but George Lang and Henry Tetley both reached
40. After a middle-order collapse it came down
to Finn Spencer and Hikaru Ichikawa to hit the
seven runs we needed to win. Finn stepped up
and hit two fours and we won the game.
David McNeill took three wickets against
Taunton School as we got them all out for 78.
We got off to a good start but then lost a
couple of wickets, and sadly fell two runs short,
but it was a great game to watch and one of
the most memorable games of the season.
We gave away over 50 extras against
Monmouth to give them a total of 200, though
Ollie Mason and Will Walters bowled
accurately. In reply George Lang got his 50
and Ollie Preece hit some quick runs, but sadly
it was too much. The season was a really good
one, and thank you very much to our coach Mr
Gresswell, who was great and helped everyone.
The Cs also had a fixture against Canford. Finn
Spencer took five wickets and Jason Gonultas took
a fantastic catch. We had a small collapse in the
middle order but Oliver Wynn kept his cool and
played the Cs to victory - an unbeaten season!
