38. Employee benefits expense
Accounting for staff costs under IAS19
The Society and Group applies IAS 19 Employee benefits in its accounting for staff costs.
Short-term employee benefits
Salaries, accrued bonuses and social security costs are recognised over the period in which the employees provide the services to which
the payments relate.
Post retirement benefits
The accounting policies and significant accounting judgements relating to pension benefits are disclosed within Note 39.
