Where past pupils have the OA Club to keep in touch
with King's, the Friends of King's is a club set up to
ensure past parents, staff, family and other members
of the King's community can also maintain the connection.
Friends are sent a termly
newsletter and invited to
school events and sports
matches, as well as the
hugely popular Friends'
Festive Tea before the
carol service at Christmas
and the annual Friends'
reception during the
summer.

Providing lots of opportunities for parents to meet each
other socially and to support the work of the school,
the Parents' Association runs a number of regular
social events throughout the year.
These began at the very start of the school year, with the
traditional hog roast on the Sunday evening, where new
parents could get to know each other and also meet existing
parents.
Throughout the year the Saturday morning drop-off was made
more bearable by the regular breakfast get-togethers over
bacon baps and pastries. The recently-introduced "Souper"
lunches were held once a term, where a theme relevant to
parents was discussed.
The PA also provided mulled wine and mince pies at the carol
service, and suppers at the spring concert and jazz evening.
Committee members also help at Open Mornings and run a
second-hand uniform scheme.
The high point of the King's social calendar was the Valentine's
Ball (above), also organised by the Parents' Association. The
event was a huge success and raised over £6,000 for vital
teaching equipment and additional resources at the Woodard
Langalanga Secondary School in Kenya.

2013 (who had been standing in for Tim Hart). The role has
