Lest we forget
Start to prepare
for next year's
commemorations of
World War I. Archive
volunteer Chris Warren
(Carpenter 1965) begins
research on the 82 OAs
who died during the
war. Studying the war
memorial, he discovers
the names of three extra casualties who
have been missed off and three included
who should not have been .

Archives go digital
After months of
planning, the first
fifty years of
the Aluredian are
digitised and
published on the OA
website. Having the school
magazine searchable and available around
the world is an immediate hit with researchers,
family historians and OAs. You can read the
historical Aluredians at http://www.aluredian.
co.uk/ ; go to the Archive pages .
A Year
in the
Life of an
Archivist

Treasure Hunt
Took part in the new
national 'Arch'Ive
Explored' week .
A treasure trail
around school,
based on the life
of Dorian Cook
(King Alfred 1934)
poet, spy and broadcaster,
causes lots of scratched heads. Best
hunters, Jalma Fiolka and friends, win a
trip to the cinema .

I remember when....
Two weeks into the new term and the school
entertains leavers from 1975-1977 for a
reunion hosted by Victor Chu (Tuckwell 1976).
Compiling a commemorative booklet with
their old ID shots, magazine articles and
news snippets goes down a storm with the
OAs, as does a video show and time to look
through papers and photographs from the
collection .
