Led by Simon Le Gallais, the 2nd XV built upon a unique team
spirit, recording pleasing victories over Sherborne, Blundell's
and Bristol Grammar School. Other notable players included Joe
Merriweather, Albert Healey, Leo Goodman-Jones, Aaron Dobie
and Bond Carter. The 3rd XV enjoyed a social brand of rugby,
with their most epic result being a 17-7 victory over Kingswood
School. Henry Dufosee was the outstanding pick of the new crop,
with the whole team being lead so ably by Ben Pritchard.
Among the junior sides, the Colts played some excellent rugby.
The SCA's have now beaten Blundell's School in successive years,
and after half term scored 266 points with a mere - and almost
unbelievable - three points scored against them. The stand-out
players were Will Knill, Aaron Chapman, Ted Nibblet and Cameron
Smith, but the player of the year has been Jack West, for his ability
to pick the team up when faced with adversity.
The SCB's enjoyed several victories, including against Taunton
and Kingswood, and the key players were Ben Wagstaff, Henry
Biggs and Max Beale.
The JCA's reached the 5th round of the NatWest U15 Vase, only
to be narrowly edged out by Clevedon School. Tom Pittman was
their key player, but the whole team developed extremely well,
recording victories over our local rivals. The JCB's struggled
against significantly stronger opposition, but developed a
wonderful relationship both within the team and with their coach.
The Under 14 A's found their latter games difficult, but
nevertheless beat Clifton College, BGS and Taunton. Tom Oxland,
Angus Crouch and Ben Winsey were outstanding players for
the team, but the player of the season was Oliver Gibbon, who
adapted to playing at fullback by scoring at will and leading the
team with passion and determination to succeed. As our rival
schools are usually bigger, our B teams found the going tough,
but they enjoyed their rugby, improved as the season progressed
and had some great successes.
