During the 2013 season King's participated in over
110 fixtures, winning 50%. For a school of our size,
often playing schools of twice, or in some cases three
times the size, with the correspondingly larger pool to
select from, this is a record of which we can be very proud. This
year every team has tried to play exciting, flowing rugby, where
each member of the team - from the U14's B team through to the
powerhouse that is the 1st XV - is fully involved.
The 1st XV, at full strength, recorded good victories over
Bristol Grammar School, Queen's, Taunton School and Plymouth
College, after Will Potter scored an exceptional last gasp lengthof-the-field try.
The Christopher Holland Trophy was awarded to
the player who has given most to King's rugby over the past five
years, and this year it went to Alex Dunham. Many thanks go
to the other senior players: Conor Bannister, Henry Willis, Jack
Holmes, Will Potter, Laurie Moorhead - and someone who has
represented the 1st XV with pride, passion and the utter belief
that every game he starts, he will win: of course, captain Blaine
Tottle. Their run in the NatWest U18 Cup led them to a 5th round
tie against an Exeter Chiefs academy school in Bicton College,
equalling the previous three years' performance.
