Aluredian
Mrs Leisa Lavender, MBE
(left), Development Officer
at King's College, and
Dr Rebecca Hickie,
Development Assistant
Just before The Aluredian went to press, we heard the sad news
of Howard Padfield's death, just a few months after Ben Sykes,
Roger Mott and Roger Poland had visited him on behalf of the
OA Club to share with him the momentous event of his 100th
birthday. There was a substantial King's presence at his
memorial service - full appreciations of Howard's memorable life
and outstanding contribution to the King's community will
appear in the next edition of the OA newsletter.
News from the Development Office
The Development Office also plays a key role in
organising a variety of events at school for OAs,
Friends, and those events open to the whole
King's community such as the Batten Lecture
series, named after former Headmaster, James
Batten. The authoritative inaugural lecture was
delivered in October 2009 by Mr Caio KochWeser,
Vice Chairman of the Deutsche Bank
Group and formerly Germany's Deputy Finance
Minister, and in February 2010, Patrick Morris
OA spoke inspirationally of his experiences as a
producer with the BBC Natural History Unit.
