3rd XI
2nd XIT
he 2nd XI's first match
against Malvern proved, as
expected, very challenging -
after a nervous start we
conceded a quick goal
followed by a penalty. We
improved greatly though and put pressure on
the opposition, but Malvern continued to find
the net in the second half - the King's goal
came from Aminu Waziri. It was a convincing
performance though against Wycliffe, and a
well-deserved 1-0 win. Goalscorer and man of
the match was Alex Brown.
Against Sherborne we played well in the first
half, only to concede a goal seconds before the
half-time break. After the interval we improved
our game and were rewarded with an equaliser
from Aminu Waziri. After that the whole team
showed exceptional spirit and stamina to
secure a well-deserved draw. Our best football
of the season so far!
Against Monmouth we found ourselves up
against formidable opposition, but nevertheless
played some of our best football of the season
so far, in a very pleasing team effort. We had a
much closer match at Clifton than the scoreline
might suggest. After Clifton had taken early
control over things and a 2-0 lead, Seb
Worthington scored to make it 2-1 early in the
second half. The result looked in the balance,
but the home side finished with a flurry of late
goals.
We controlled the game against QEH Bristol for
much of the time and should really have won.
Two headed goals by Aminu Waziri gave us a
well-deserved 2-1 lead at half-time, but we
allowed the opposition back into the game with
a well-worked equaliser. Despite intense
pressure in the dying moments, we couldn't
quite force the winner.
In our final match of the season, we started well,
putting Marlborough under a lot of pressure, and
were rewarded with a goal from Aminu Waziri
after an assist by Ross Kieswetter. After halftime
we continued to press, and played with lots
of spirit, but had to succumb in the end!

Seb Worthington powers
past the opposition for the
2nd XI against QEH BristolT
he 3rds had four matches,
starting strongly against
Wycliffe, but it was the
opposition who took the lead
with their first attack. Good
pressure led to a David Aimufia
goal, and soon afterwards Tafu Yamamoto made
it 2-1 going into the half-time interval. Wycliffe
exerted all the pressure in the second half and
equalised, but we held out for a well-deserved
draw, with man of the match goalkeeper Nick
Mason making a string of fine saves.
A weakened side soon went 1-3 down against
Sherborne in an early flurry of goals. For much
of the match there was little between the two
teams in terms of possession and chances, but
Sherborne were better at finishing, and eventually
won comfortably. Against Wellington we quickly
took control of our match, dominating
proceedings with first-half goals by Jordan Webb
and Seb Worthington. At the start of the second
half we relaxed rather, and Wellington fought
their way back into things with two quick goals.
However we soon re-established our authority,
with the winner coming from skipper Ollie
Preece. Jordan Webb was man of the match.
It was a disappointing end to the season against
Exeter School. In many ways it was similar to
the Sherborne match - lots of chances that we
were unfortunately unable to convert.
