match involving both the English and Welsh
Cup champions, with the captains Mhairi Hall
and Joe Sharpe setting the competitive tone in
a fierce battle, won by Millfield on the very last
relay event.
In the ESAA Cup qualifier, King's girls came
second, with big points scored by Katy Preece
and Pippa O'Neill. Other individual county
champions included Jordan Webb (triple jump),
Constantin Kossen (hurdles), and Pippa O'Neill
(javelin), but Harry Marshall (1500 metres),
Alan Lennox-Boyd (200 metres), George
Chapman (800 metres) and Alice Davies (triple
jump) all contributed marvellous personal
bests.
The roll of honour continued in the various agegroup
matches, so juniors setting personal
bests ranged from Charlotte Dathan, Annie
Wagstaff, Elle Bracher and Maddie Hudson, to
Michael Peek, Henry Willis, Alex Dunham and
Francesco Roggia. But perhaps the hardest
battles take place in combined events
meetings, so Blaine Tottle coming second in the
Somerset Pentathlon and fifth in the South
West, fending off Conor Bannister (third in
Somerset) gave a great demonstration of his
versatility and endurance - aspects of his
ability repeated in many matches and events.
The multi-men continued to the English
Championships, with Constantin Kossen taking
part in the decathlon for Somerset.
Major colours were awarded by King's to Mhairi
Hall, Charlie Maclean and Tom Lawson, whilst
school colours went to Joe Sharpe, Rebecca
MacDonald-Doyle, Toby Barnes Yallowley, Tom
Drysdale, Alice Davies, Jordan Webb, Ruth
Canham and Constantin Kossen.
So back to the beginning, a new generation will
be encouraged in 2011: here's to the past and
the future.
