P
ut in to bat on a slow pitch in
the opening fixture at Sherborne,
we limped our way to 100 all
out, skipper George Wayman topscoring
with 29. An electric
performance by the whole team
in the field meant Sherborne steadily lost
wickets.
Excellent spells by
Tom Garwood and
Chris Griffiths
enabled us to
take the final
wicket with nine
balls remaining in
a nailbiting finish.
Accurate bowling
by Taylor Buller
and James
Jennings restricted
Millfield's scoring
rate, but a flurry of boundaries saw them reach
155 in their 20 overs. Terrific strokeplay by
Jamie Grantham and George Wayman kept us
in the hunt, but wickets fell steadily, and we
ended 19 runs short.
James Jennings and Tom Garwood had Queen's
reeling at 16 for 4, and they could only reach
75 all out, with Chris Griffiths taking 3 for 18.
15 from Dominic Bracher, 35 from Liam Kitch
and 20 from George Lock ensured there were
no slip-ups, as we cruised to a nine-wicket
victory in just nine overs.
A dominant batting display saw us post an
impressive 250 at Blundell's, Chris Griffiths
top-scoring with 69, and Ross Kieswetter
hitting a fine 55. Blundell's were never in the
hunt, thanks to five wickets for Ross
Kieswetter, and two for Will Griffiths.
At Clifton we had an epic encounter that
finished with the scores tied! An excellent
partnership between George Lock (49) and Joe
Watts (27) rescued us from 50 for 4, helped by
a late flurry from Sam Merriweather and Tom
Garwood. Clifton needed only 18 from the
final five overs, but a magnificent two overs
from Jamie Grantham left them needing one
run off the last ball, Sam Merriweather diving
with ball in hand to effect the crucial run-out.
An efficient bowling performance restricted
Taunton School to 152. George Wayman then
proceeded to hammer the most magnificent
unbeaten century in only 40 balls, as we
passed their total in just 12 overs. Monmouth
got off to a slow start, reaching just 121 in 30
overs. George Wayman then batted rather
sedately by his standards, hitting just five sixes
in his impressive 89 not out as we won in just
14 overs.
T
he 3rds batted slowly against
Sherborne, but Phil Downie,
Henry Tetley and Hayden Tyler
took us to a final total of 135.
A double-wicket maiden by
Will Griffiths gave us a chance
- but we let Sherborne back into the game,
and despite seeing them struggle towards the
end, we didn't have enough of a total to
defend.
Against Castle School, Ivo Gavin with 5 for 12
quickly had them in disarray, and Henry Tetley
set about securing victory in just five overs.
After reducing Millfield to 58 for 4, a century
partnership took them to 187 in 25 overs.
Olly Gibb and Phil Downie batted sensibly, and
Henry Tetley and George Lang added 50, but
187 was always a bit out of reach.
At Blundell's we posted a massive 302 in just
25 overs, thanks largely to Tristan Marshall
hitting 92 off 30 balls, and Matt Harden with
75 off 29 balls. Hayden Tyler took 3 for 6,
and extras were the second highest total, as we
won by 177 runs. Clifton was a nailbiting
final-over finish, James Dent taking six wickets
as we bowled Clifton out for 163. All looked
lost at 106 for 7, but James Dent received
good support from Sam Vickery and George
Hall, scoring 48 not out and hitting the winning
runs with three balls to spare.
Against Taunton School we reached a total of
205 all out in 29 overs. A tenacious
performance in the field and tight bowling from
George Bayless meant Taunton fell three runs
short in their run chase - an exciting end to a
great season.

The 4ths started well
with but allowed
Sherborne to end on
180 for 5. Valiant
attempts with the bat
from Georges Lang and
Bayless got us off to a
good start, but a middleorder
collapse scuppered
our chances, despite
some excellent wagging
of the tail by Sam
Vickery and Tom
Adcock. We beat
Millfeld though by four
wickets, after being set
159, good bowling from
Guy Jones, George
Bayless and Tom
Adcock. A formidable
partnership between
James Huxtable and
David McNeill, who
finished on 83 not out,
saw us home.
