W
ith the opening
match against
Sherborne rained off,
we had to wait until
the Millfield fixture
for our first game.
Missing two key players, we managed a
respectable 128 from 30 overs, Matt Richards
hitting 77. However we disappointed in the
field, and Millfield reached their target for the
loss of just one wicket.
The following week we dismissed Queen's for
109, with some tidy bowling by Ryan May and
Matt Richards, and a stunning catch by Archie
Watts. We started cautiously in reply, but a
solid 33 from Matt Richards and some
powerful hitting by Dougie Denton ensured the
result was never in doubt.
It was something of a run feast against
Blundell's, 50s for Matt Richards and Laurence
May contributing to a massive 290 in 35
overs. This turned out to be more than double
the opposition's total in reply, as we won by
150 runs.
We beat Clifton by 47 runs, with Matt Richards
scoring his maiden school century. He carried
his bat for 106 as we reached 203, Laurence
May contributing an excellent 49. Accurate
bowling by Ryan May and Matt Richards soon
had Clifton struggling, and two fine catches in
the deep by Oliver Driscoll ensured Clifton fell
comfortably short in the end.
Put into bat by Taunton School, we reached a
respectable total of 211, with the help of Matt
Richards (51), Ryan May (36) and Laurence May
(26). However the opposition capitalised on
some less than accurate bowling, and some poor
fielding failed to put pressure on their batsmen.
In a resounding finish to our season, we
restricted Monmouth to 161 after 35 overs - in
reply we reached their total with five wickets to
spare, Laurence May scoring a superb
unbeaten century!

he Bs had a thoroughly
enjoyable season, ending on a
real high with two good wins
against Taunton School and
Monmouth. This final match
of the season was particularly
satisfying as we had disappointingly taken our
foot off the gas after a good start with the ball,
allowing Monmouth to post 177 in their
allotted overs. Despite losing two wickets in
the fourth over, Alex Dathan and Tristan Drew
combined in a fantastic partnership of 115,
Tristan Drew hitting the winning six into the
new Monmouth pavilion in just the 18th over!
