Under

he Under 14s had a great
start to tennis at King's,
beating Blundell's 8-1.
Yasmin Wolfe served very
well, Philippa O'Neill and
Henrietta Harrison gelled well
as a partnership, while Tarn McIntosh played
some well-placed volleys.
One strong Clifton player
was the major factor in
the three sets they won -
otherwise our team
dominated to record a
satisfying 6-3 win,
Dominica Taylor playing
particularly well all
afternoon. It was a battle
of wills against Taunton
School, soggy conditions
making ground strokes
hard work. The 5-4
victory featured an
excellent 6-0 win for Tarn
McIntosh and Lydia Gray
against Taunton's first
pair.
We continued our unbeaten run with a wellearned
win against Wellington. Some hard
hitting by Alienor Dartiguenave from the back
of the court resulted in some long rallies, and
there was a strong performance from Hatty
Harrison, as she and Dominica Taylor
dominated their opposite pair 6-1.
We experienced our first loss in difficult weather
conditions at Canford, but Dominica Taylor and
Hatty Harrison held their own, beating the second
and third pairs convincingly. They were supported
by an excellent win from Lydia Gray and Tarn
McIntosh against their opposite pair, 6-2.
We played really well against Millfield, and just
missed out on a win - many of the games went
to deuce, and there were some closely-fought
sets. Dominica Taylor and Hatty Harrison
played well together all day, but met their
match against Millfield's very strong first pair.
A great team effort produced a well-deserved
victory against a strong Sherborne side.
Dominica Taylor and Hatty Harrison as first pair
continued their outstanding form with three
excellent wins. And what better way to end
the season than with a clean sweep of nine
sets to none against Queen's. Statistically it
was third pair Tarn McIntosh and Lydia Gray
who came out on top, winning their three sets
6-2, 6-0, 6-3!
T
he Bs started with an
identical scoreline to the As
against Blundell's, Amelia
Clark returning serve
particularly well. All the new
partnerships worked well,
with Rebecca Vickery and Lucy Mead involved
in some excellent rallies.
A terrific performance from every pair ensured
a fantastic 9-0 whitewash at Clifton, Lucy
Mead here playing especially well - but it was
a great all-round team performance. We then
won a close match against strong Taunton
School opponents, Rosita Dymond and Lucy
Mead winning all their matches, and battling
through some long rallies.
Against Wellington we recorded our second
whitewash in seven days, Lydia Gray and Tarn
McIntosh showing excellent communication as
they dominated their matches. We had a
fantastic result against a well-drilled Canford
side, Jess Spiers and Amelia Clark working well
together to win two of their sets 6-1, 6-2. An
excellent display of team spirit brought three
wins for Lucy Mead and Rosita Dymond in our
5-4 victory.
An unfortunate injury in the first round of
matches against Millfield saw one of our pairs
retire, but the rest of the team battled on to a
famous 4-2 win. Lucy Mead and Rosita
Dymond won two long matches 6-3, 6-4.
There were some closely-fought sets against
Sherborne, and the Cs thoroughly enjoyed their
first chance of the season to represent King's
on the tennis courts. And we rounded off our
season with a thoroughly enjoyable 8-1 win
over Queen's, Lucy Mead in excellent form, and
Alice Lumley and Isabella Clarkson proving
formidable opponents.
