I
n our first match of the season against
Queen's, we dominated from the
outset, Laurence May opening the
scoring with a well-worked goal. 2-1
up at half-time, we stepped up the
pace after the interval, and the
floodgates opened, King's running out eventual
6-2 winners.
Against Millfield we performed extremely well,
creating lots of chances, and were unlucky to
concede just before half-time. We continued to
play well, but failed to convert our chances -
man of the match was Rhys Davies.
Two weeks later though, it was champagne
hockey throughout at Sherborne, as we romped
to a 4-1 win. Man of the match Matt Richards
scored twice in a dominant display. In our next
game we battled hard against a well-organised
Canford side, and were unfortunate to be 1-0
down at half-time. The work rate in defence
from Dougie Denton, Corbett Sykes-Moore and
Archie Watts was exceptional.
Against King's, Bruton, we played fluent hockey
throughout, and goals came both regularly and
frequently. Matt Richards scored an
astonishing five, and the 8-0 win was
completed by Dougie Denton, Laurence May
and Rhys Davies.
In our final fixture against Taunton School
though, we conceded three early goals, and
although we pressurised the opposition, we
failed to convert six short corners in the first
half. The team never gave up though, and
Archie Watts in particular worked hard all
game. Not quite the right result to end on, but
it was a season that had spectacular moments.
I
t was a strong performance by the Bs
in their opening match of the season
against Queen's, with the side visibly
improving in the second half to win
4-1. Goals came from Conor McAndie,
Harry Catton, Tristan Drew and Jake
Fleming.
Against Millfield we dominated throughout, and
could have scored six. As it was we settled for
a hat-trick by Harry Catton, who looked
dangerous every time he got the ball - 3-1 the
final score. We then extended our unbeaten run
to three games in the match against Wellington.
Alex Grace scored a well-deserved hat-trick, and
there were goals too for Jake Fleming, Harry
Catton and Kelvin Choi. By this stage we had
scored 13 goals and conceded just two - a
fantastic start to the season!
We then lost momentum a little in the middle
of the season, unlucky not to win at Sherborne,
but we failed to convert our opportunities.
Kelvin Choi was player of the match. Against
Canford we had a close game that could have
gone either way, but we just couldn't find the
back of the net. Man of the match again was
Kelvin Choi for his speed and skill in midfield.
The season got back on track as we led King's,
Bruton at half-time, thanks to a skillful goal by
Alex Grace. Kelvin Choi and Harry Catton
added further goals - man of the match was
shared by Jake Fleming and Eric Ko. And it
was another convincing win against Taunton
School, goals from Alex Grace and Jake
Fleming sealing an excellent season! Aluredian
