T
he Under 15s won their
opening match against
Queen's 38-6 in an
outstanding display of netball.
We took control from the
beginning and never let the
opposition into the match. Player of the match
was Katy Preece for her excellent movement
and incredible shooting accuracy.
It was a tight game throughout against
Millfield, and we showed plenty of grit and
determination. It was a shame then to lose
eventually by just a single goal, but the team
spirit was outstanding.
Three goals down early on
against West Buckland, we
fought our way back into a
three-goal lead by half-time.
Each side then matched the
other's goals, but we
dominated the final quarter,
and deserved our win.
It was a slow start at
Taunton School, as we
struggled to find our form
until the final quarter, when
we really took control of the
game and proved ourselves
worthy winners. After a
good start against Canford,
we lost momentum, and
allowed Canford to build a substantial lead,
and despite some excellent play in the final
quarter we had left ourselves too much to do.
In spite of the weather at Stoodley, we
remained focused throughout, and there was
some excellent defending by Charlotte Dathan.
Eventually, we turned over enough balls to run
out winners by the narrowest of margins, 1110.
We played some fantastic netball against
Wellington, dominating the second and third
quarters. We went comfortably into a lead that
we never looked like surrendering.
Tilly Barker played exceptionally well as
goalkeeper against Clifton, as we dominated
the opposition, running out eventual 27-10
winners. And in our last match against
Blundell's we lost by just one goal, with the
result always in doubt. We turned over lots of
balls and played some excellent netball, but the
final whistle went before we had a chance to
convert our final centre pass.
And we came second in the county cup! Two
victories in the group matches gave us a tight
semi-final against Wellington, which we won by
three goals in extra-time! In the final against a
strong Millfield side with several of their
national players on court, we trailed by one
goal in the last minute, only for our equalising
goal to come agonisingly just after the final
whistle!
T
he Bs enjoyed a superb
unbeaten season, starting with
a relatively easy game against
Taunton School, excellent
shooting by Flo Main and
Charlotte Smyth keeping us
well in the lead throughout. Katie Blowers
worked hard in the centre third to keep the ball
flowing, showing good teamwork with Alice
Geraghty. We lacked cohesion to start at
Canford, but worked well as a team to fight
back, and once we had taken the lead we never
looked back. There were excellent interceptions
from Jess Kennedy and Molly O'Donnell, and
many thanks to Charlotte Mason for her
important contribution to the game.
We led 11-1 by the end of the first quarter
against Wellington, with captain Charlotte
Smyth and Flo Main in fine shooting form, and
we steadily increased our lead, with Alice
Geraghty playing well in the centre court.
We dominated from the start against Clifton,
good interceptions by Megan Roberts and Jess
Kennedy keeping the Clifton attack out of the
game, and denying them a single goal in the
second half. There was excellent centre play
by Katie Blowers.
The final fixture against Blundell's was our
tightest match yet, ending the first quarter with
a three-goal lead. Everyone played their best
netball of the term, using all the tactics and
techniques learnt in training, to round off our
magnificent unbeaten season 26-15!

The Cs played with
great determination and
enthusiasm against
Taunton School. Flo
Johnstone made some
terrific interceptions,
and the shooters made
difficult shooting look
easy. Against Clifton
we had a fast exciting
game, and played really
well. Tiffany Tam shot
exceptionally well,
scoring five goals in the
final quarter.
