T
he Under 14s won a close
game against Queen's, with
good performances from
everyone in this their first
match for King's. There was
some very solid defending,
and great movement and shooting from Alia
Hamaoui. Against Millfield we took an early
lead and never looked back. The team played
some impressive open netball, with some
fantastic interceptions and passing. Gussy
Hydleman in particular caught the eye.
It was an evenly-matched game against West
Buckland, with the team showing excellent
movement around the court, resulting in a lot
of turnover balls. Then in the gathering gloom
at Colyton, we were up against a wellorganised
team with a lot of experience, but we
put up a good fight and never gave up, the
final score 11-17.
We played with spirit against a tall, wellorganised
Taunton School side - marking had
improved visibly and effort levels remained
high, Sophia Collins the stand-out player.
It was a scrappy match against Wellington, but
once we had taken control of the game, we
played with energy and efficiency. Leading by
four goals at half-time, the second half was all
ours, and we never really let Wellington into the
game. We followed this with a superb
performance against Clifton, and after weeks of
intensive training, everything fell into place. We
stayed in control of the game throughout, and
eased our way to a comfortable 31-22 win.
Our final match represented a third win in a
row, and a fitting end to a very good season.
After a lot of hard work, we were able to put
into practice all we had learnt in hours of
training, and we dominated Blundell's for a
thoroughly well-deserved 30-12 win!
T
he Bs lost only one of their six
matches, and that by just a
single goal. We dominated
our opening fixture against
Taunton School - having set
ourselves a target of 25 goals
for the match, we missed out by just one!
Against Canford we were leading until the final
two minutes, when they agonisingly managed
to overtake us with the winning goal. Emma
Paull played particularly well though.
We started strongly as usual against Stoodley,
with Jess Spiers and Minnie Taylor consistently
converting our attacking moves. Stoodley came
back into the match later on in the afternoon,
but we managed to hold on to our lead,
winning 11-10. We played really well together
against Wellington, displaying our slick,
professional play to good effect. We led from
the start, thanks to some strategic dodging and
positioning.
Against Clifton we were again victorious, this
time over opposition previously unbeaten this
season. Goalkeeper Chantal Fifield was player
of the match, stealing the ball after every
Clifton shot. And to finish, an evenly-matched
game against Blundell's, but our excellent
passing and tactical interceptions gave us the
edge. Player of the match was Minnie Taylor,
in a great end to a successful season. Aluredian
