Taunton School opponent
T
he Under 15s had a
competitive start to their
season against Wellington,
Tory Clark scoring before the
break, but we panicked rather
in the second half. We
enjoyed a well-deserved win against Queen's,
the first goal coming from Hilary Moorhead,
who stole the ball on the halfway line, and
showed too much speed for the Queen's
defence - our other two goals were both scored
by Issy Germain. In the first half against
Canford we made their keeper work hard.
After a well-taken goal by Amelia Evans,
Canford stepped up the pace, but Martha Gray,
Megan Ameye, Kate Webster and Hebe Mills
had outstanding games in defence.
We scored early on at Sherborne with a wellworked
team goal from Lucy Sharp. Sherborne
scored from a short corner, and although we
continued to apply the pressure, we couldn't
quite manage a winner. At Wells we went 1-0
up in ten minutes with a well-taken goal by
Hilary Moorhead, only to lose the lead, while
failing to convert numerous chances. However
we showed great determination to fight back,
clinching the equaliser through Issy Germain
after a fantastic cross by Amelia Evans.
We showed great
team spirit against a
very good Blundell's
team, coming back
from 2-4 down - our
goals came from
Lucy Sharp, with two
more for Issy
Germain. But
against Bryanston we
were magnificent.
Once Issy had scored
her second we went
from strength to
strength and further
goals came from
Lucy Sharp and
Hilary Moorhead.
In the final match of the season we actually
produced what we'd been threatening all
season, and a torrent of goals overwhelmed the
opposition. Captain Tory Clark started the goal
rush with a fantastic short-corner strike, and
the other eight goals came from Lucy Sharp,
Hilary Moorhead and Issy Germain. Hermione
Warmington and Michelle Pearn ran tirelessly in
midfield, in the most total team performance
imaginable.
T
he Bs started their season
with a terrific effort, beating
Wellington 1-0. Charlotte
Palmer and Annabel Lumley
played with determination and
energy, while sweeper Connie
Holmes kept any Wellington attack at bay.
Francesca Fender scored the decisive goal. Playing
to a clear game plan and with plenty of energy,
great performances from Hattie Kean, Annabel
Lumley, Connie Holmes and Flora Webster helped
us to a convincing 5-1 win over Taunton School.
We enjoyed an impressive victory against Queen's,
Lara Rodgers scoring twice, with one apiece for
Annabel Lumley and Kitty McIntosh. Connie
Holmes made some important tackles in defence.
Kitty McIntosh and Hennie Thomson scored our
goals against Canford, and we were unlucky to
lose a high-scoring game by the odd goal in five.
Sherborne was a fast-paced game that ended
in a 1-1 draw. Naomi Smale had a strong
game in defence, Connie Holmes' first game in
goal was a great success, and Kitty McIntosh
continued her good form with a well-taken
goal. A weakened team at Blundell's though
struggled to keep out strong opposition.
Annabel Lumley had a good game as substitute
goalkeeper, and Bryony House was very
effective in defence, while Kitty McIntosh
scored our goal.
At Bryanston we started strongly but struggled
to find the net, with the opposition goalkeeper
making some fine saves. Eventually though,
three unanswered goals came from Kitty
McIntosh and Naomi Smale, with Francesca
Fender ending our season with a magnificent
drag-flick into the net.
