T
he season started strongly,
with a 25-22 win against
West Somerset Community
College's Under 16s.
Right from the start we
defended well with Francesca
Fender leaning in very well to block the
opponents' view. We went into the Queen's
fixture with positive thoughts. Issy Germain
and Megane Scott shot very well together,
getting nearly every goal in, with Tory Clark
leading the centre court.
We then went into a three-way fixture against
Millfield and West Buckland. Charlotte Parris
played very well as GS, and Amelia Evans
dodged and kept her ground very well, as we
beat Millfield 18-10 and West Buckland 21-19.
Taunton School seemed to be a match that we
could not get our heads around. With Megan
Ameye playing well as WA, intercepting every
ball she could get, we went into an early lead.
However we then let our guard down, losing
18-23 in a close match.
In the Deacon Cup we played Queen's and
Taunton in the first round, winning one and
drawing the other. Going forward as area
winners, we played Millfield B losing 8-9,
Chilton Trinity winning 11-3, King's, Bruton
winning 12-7, and losing against Wellington.
When Hilary Moorhead was welcomed into the
team, she straightaway showed her abilities,
giving 100% in every match. Overall we
weren't unbeaten, but we played some excellent
netball throughout the season. Counting all the
goals, our total was 193, with a 21-goal
average for each match, a very pleasing score
when looked at that way. Congratulations and
thank you to the Under 15 As!
T
he Under 15 Bs ended the
season unbeaten! We played
well as a team and kept the
ball moving up and down the
court rapidly in pretty much all
of our games. We won 28-9
against West Somerset Community College's As,
which was a pleasing way to start the season.
Taunton School was a tough game but we
managed a 29-11 victory. However, the score
didn't reflect the game as Taunton put up a
strong fight. The centre-court players worked
well together and shooters Naomi Smale and
Charlotte Parris scored some fantastic goals.
The match of the season was most definitely
versus Clifton, where strong defence and attack
meant we managed a 16-9 win. Kate and
Flora Webster worked well as a team in
defence and Flora made some excellent midcourt
interceptions. Throughout the season,
Hebe Mills and Hattie Kean worked well in the
centre court, and both Lucy Sharp and Martha
Gray played some impressive games. Lucy's
speed was a real asset to our game play.
In our last match of the season, the pressure
was on to maintain our winning streak.
During the first half we made a few mistakes
but came through and continued to ease away
from the opposition to finish our season with a
22-16 win.
Overall, we had a fun, memorable and
rewarding season, and our team never lost its
spirit! Everyone played to their full ability in
every game, and all our hard work paid off with
the reward of an Easter Egg from our coach
Miss Davis. She was an inspiration to the
team and a fabulous coach!!
