T
he Under 14 As had a really
successful first season at
King's, winning six of our nine
matches. As the season
progressed, everybody adapted
their game to suit how we
wanted to play as a team. The highlight of the
season was our match against Taunton School.
With King's taking control from the start, we
dominated with a combination of excellent
interceptions from Flora Evans, and superb
shooting from Flo Main and Katy Preece,
running out eventual 20-9 winners.
The most competitive game of the season was
against West Buckland where both teams were
very evenly matched. However, Charlotte
Dathan took control and pushed the ball up the
court well, and there was brilliant dodging from
Rosie Parr which helped us clinch a 14-13 win.
Our final game was against Blundell's, and we
couldn't have ended the season better. Tilly
Barker made fierce interceptions throughout,
which played a vital part in our 26-21 win.
The whole team approached the season with
high spirits and played with great
determination right to the
end of every match. I am
really looking forward to
next season and hope that
we can improve on a
strong first season of
netball. I would also like
to thank Mrs Vile for being
an amazing coach - she
was enthusiastic and
encouraged us at every
opportunity throughout the
season.
T
he Bs had a very successful
season, winning more games
than we lost! Flo Johnstone,
Molly O'Donnell, and Bryony
House all worked really well in
defence. Alice Geraghty and
Melissa McFarlane were both amazing at
shooting and played really well together.
Charlotte Smyth's incredible effort and energy
kept the team spirit up, even when we were
losing! And although Ellie Healey was ill for
much of the season, she contributed really well.
In fact we didn't often play as a complete team
due to illness and injuries.
We were all very anxious about the Clifton
fixture because of what we had heard about
the opposition, but we ended up winning 2817!
"The team rose to the occasion and
played their best, resulting in an excellent win.
Charlotte Smyth and Melissa McFarlane were
brilliant in the circle." - a comment made by
the Headmaster himself in assembly!
On the other hand when we played against
Stoodley Knowle, we'll know next time not to
judge them before playing the game. We were
a bit over-confident and were entirely surprised
when they ended up thrashing us!
We had some awesome training memories, like
the time when we were singing Happy Birthday
to our coach Mrs Vile when it wasn't actually
her birthday, and the time when we enjoyed
doing yoga on the sidelines of a game! Overall,
we played really well and it was great fun. I'm
sure all the team can't wait for more of the
same and hopefully better next year!
