I
t took a while to find our rhythm in
our first match, but it wasn't long
before we were producing some
excellent attacking netball to lead
Wellington 12-3 at half-time, and we
continued to dominate in the second half,
winning 23-6 in the end.
Elle Bracher and Tilly Barker defended
strongly on a slippery surface against
Queen's as we took a 7-4 lead into halftime.
Good shooting by Katy Preece and
Alia Hamaoui saw us over the finish line in
the end to win 16-10.
We just lost in a nailbiting finish at West
Buckland, but then started strongly
against Millfield, ending the first half just
one goal down. Hopes were high with
some inspirational play by Elle Bracher
and Chantal Fifield, but we ended the
match two goals short.
It was a convincing win against Exeter
School - defence was solid, and the midcourt
players produced some excellent
turnover ball. Player of the match was
Megan Ameye who was everywhere on the
court, and fed the shooters with a plentiful
supply of ball.
Stoodley Knowle was another nailbiter, 1010
at half-time, and 14-15 going into the
final quarter. But excellent defending by
Tilly Barker and captain Elle Bracher saw
us turn the game round to win 18-17,
thanks to some excellent shooting under
pressure by Katy Preece.
After a frustrating defeat indoors at
Blundell's, we ended the first half against
Clifton with scores level at 5-5. Trailing by
three goals going into the final quarter, we
began to use the ball more intelligently,
and some excellent turnovers led to a
flurry of goals and a thrilling 17-14 win.
We did well to hold a well-drilled Taunton
side to 14-10 at half-time. However the
opposition gradually took control, and we
couldn't get our hands on enough ball to
catch up - a frustrating end to an
excellent season.
A
fter a good first quarter against
Wellington, we squandered our
advantage in the second. Flo Main
impressed after the interval, and there
was a strong performance from Georgie
Evans, as we ran out eventual 18-15
winners.
We played quite brilliantly throughout the
Queen's match, winning every quarter. We
moved well into space, and displayed
skills worked on during the week's
training. Chantal Fifield defended
excellently and thoroughly deserved her
player of the match award. The 4ths
outpaced their opposition in the final
quarter to win 24-6, with confident
shooting by Pippa Byrne, and Alice
Stillwell a constant threat in attack.
We took a well-deserved lead by the end
of the first quarter against Exeter School,
and kept control of the game throughout.
Kitty McIntosh had a very good game, but
Lucy Sharp was player of the match for
her brilliantly timed runs. The 4ths
outpaced and outplayed their opposition
with fluid play and accurate passing to win
39-10. There was some excellent
shooting throughout the game - player of
the match was Emily Albery.
At Blundell's we fell behind in the first
quarter, but finished strongly with a good
last period to the game - Lucy Sharp and
Erin Slade both had excellent games. The
4ths won a closely fought match thanks to
some sharp shooting from the forwards!
Tight marking and inch-perfect passing
were the hallmarks of our fantastic 32-21
win against Clifton - Georgina Evans
player of the match here. The 4ths put in
a wonderful performance as well to win
21-10. The defence came up with a huge
number of interceptions, and the shooting
by Pippa Byrne, Alice Stillwell and Claudia
Williams was really impressive.
But it was a frustrating loss to Taunton
School that ended our season. We led
right up to the last quarter, but
unfortunately came up just short. Ellie
McLean made some superb interceptions,
and player of the match Kitty McIntosh
had a calm, controlling influence over the
game. But the 4ths won - yet again!
Lucy Sharp threads the
ball through the
Queen's defence as the
3rds win 33-20
