T
wo brilliant goals from Joss Philp
and Will Lumley started the season
with a convincing win against
Wycliffe. Man of the match Charlie
Granville in goal commanded his area
and showed quick, safe hands. And
there was more of the same the following
week against Wellington, goals for Joss
Philp, Rhys Davies and Keenan O'Shea
leading to a 3-1 win. Man of the match
was Bing Torrance in central defence.
It was honours even at half-time at Bristol
Grammar School, but we soon conceded
twice. Rallying strongly we secured a goal
with a well-taken shot by Keenan O'Shea.
In a frantic final period of the game,
Bristol scored a third as we pressed for
the equaliser.
In an exciting, goal-rich encounter against
Sidcot, we never looked like losing, and
goals by Laurence May, Keenan O'Shea
and Henry Robinson ensured our third win
of the season. We lacked any real spark
though against Exeter School, and should
have made more of our opportunities -
our highlight was an excellent goal scored
by Albert Healy.
Playing Millfield's 4ths we enjoyed a
fantastic 3-0 win, despite MiIlfield
dominating much of the first half. A freekick
by Henry Robinson and two more
stunning goals by Joss Philp sealed the
win in an excellent team effort.
The Monmouth game finished honours
even, as we registered our first ever
league points against the Welsh - Conor
Bannister, Joss Philp and Will Lumley were
the goalscorers. At QEH Bristol we came
back from 2-0 down to draw level, with
goals by Bing Torrance and Joss Philp.
But QEH scored quickly in the second half,
after which we lost our shape rather.
The season ended with three disappointing
defeats, but the Marlborough game saw
one of our best performances of the
season. Malvern were strong and wellorganised,
while a young King's side were
no match for a more experienced Clifton
side, despite another wonder strike from
MC Lerthamkajon.
W
ithin minutes of the season
starting, the Under 15s went
ahead through a penalty taken
by goalkeeper Callum McPhee, then
doubled their lead thanks to a well-taken
goal by Dome Vicheansil. In the last play
of the half Wycliffe pulled a goal back,
and upped their game after the interval,
with two more goals proving decisive.
In a 3-0 win against Bristol Grammar
School, we kept the opposition under
pressure throughout, with Ignacio Sanchez
Morell giving us the lead after latching on
to a well-placed cross by Dome Vicheansil.
In the second half Jonjo Wring got on to
the scoresheet with a confidently hit shot,
before a magnificent strike by man of the
match Sanchez Morell put the result
beyond doubt.
We came away from a very close game
against Millfield with an exciting 3-2 win,
after end-to-end football all afternoon.
We scored midway through the first half
thanks to a Toby Johnson strike,
immediately after which Millfield scored
twice in quick succession. Both teams
enjoyed good spells in the second half,
but we made our pressure count with
goals from Ignacio Sanchez Morell and
Jonjo Wring.
We managed to create chances against
Marlborough, but despite some fantastic
play by the defensive unit, we went down
in the end. And then an early injury to
Royce Tooth left us playing Clifton a man
down in appalling weather, from which
there was no way back.
The Under 16s played four matches
- highlights of their season were a
fantastic free-kick by Neil Brand
against Wycliffe, MC Lerthamkajon's
excellent shot from the edge of the
box, and a 3-1 win against Chilton
Cantelo.
