Mini-sagas
The English department held a 'Mini-Saga' competition for
the 3rd form, in which pupils were invited to write a
complete story, with beginning, middle and end, using
exactly 50 words. This is not as easy as it sounds. But
there were many excellent entries from across the year.
Highly commended

One Opportunity

He aimed. He could see her perfectly, but she had no idea
he was there or who he was. He adjusted his position; the
sun couldn't ruin this shot. He only had one chance. His
hands shook and his finger twitched. There was a flash.
It was a great photo.
The Gun
by Oliver Clarke
Faster and faster, putting this in here and that in there,
clicks that sound like fingers snapping. I must get faster,
I must beat the record. The clock ticking fast and strong as
my fingers work on the gun. Putting piece after piece in the
right place. Time to kill!
Sad but true

A man sat in the café with a beautiful woman. He tried to
express his feeling to her. Suddenly, the woman had a
phone call from the mysterious man. Suddenly she said
goodbye to the man and said that she had to meet her
husband now. The man sat down alone with sorrow as the
woman he loved left the café.
The Busker

I have been here all my life. I sit here every day, all day
people walk past. I always wish I could be a normal person
with a family, but no, I sit and wait for people to give me
money, play all kinds of music, but no-one cares.
