against Taunton School, Sherborne and
Blundell's, and losing only once, to Clifton
Academy. Other highlights included the OA
fixture, which saw four former pupils battle it
out against the 1st team at singles and
doubles, and we also had a very successful trip
to Wimbledon where we had No 1 Court
tickets.
The 2nd VI had a more difficult season to
negotiate, playing the majority of their matches
on astro surfaces. Toby Catton and Philipp
Zelter were key contributors in a number of the
team's wins, but all the players are to be
congratulated for their efforts and continued
enthusiasm.
The juniors had a good season overall, with
some pleasing results. At times the Under 16s
won convincingly, with Harry Catton, Ben
Shapland, Kelvin Choi and Nico Mills playing in
the top pairs. However, due to injury these
players at times had to play for the 2nds,
which left gaps to fill. However all the junior
players fought well throughout the season, and
it was pleasing to see some keen 3rd formers
out on the courts, showing plenty of good
potential for the future.
Congratulations to all the players, and a special
thank you to Philipp Zelter for all he has done
over the last two years, as honorary secretary
last year, and as captain of tennis this year.
He did a terrific job, and set a great example to
the younger players.
