We started
disappointingly for
the first 50 minutes
at Canford, but
then showed great
character to start
whittling away at a considerable points deficit,
which put us in a potentially match-winning
position. There were excellent tries from Blaine
Tottle and Will Potter. We then went on to play
strong, fluent, dynamic rugby to beat Clifton
29-10. The forwards rucked superbly, and the
backs ran into space, off-loading beautifully
and scoring some excellent tries.
It was another excellent afternoon at
Wellington, Albert Healey scoring on debut, and
Will Potter finishing off a well-worked try.
Leo Goodman-Jones also played particularly
well. We started brilliantly at Blundell's, racing
to a 10-0 lead, but then lost intensity, and
allowed Blundell's back into the game to steal
victory. The highlights here were some
scintillating tries scored by Will Potter.
It was a spirited performance against far larger
Cheltenham opponents, with late replacement
George Lumley putting in some superb tackles.
Though we dominated up front, the opposition's
more ruthless back division proved the difference
on the day. But a week later we had another
excellent win against a competitive Bristol
Grammar side. Victory was secured by a
brilliant man of the match performance by
Laurie Moorhead, with Will Potter scoring
another two tries.
We were disappointed to lose against
Monmouth, considering how well we played
with ball in hand. Five crucial missed tackles
resulted in five tries, which in the end was the
difference between the two teams. Blaine
Tottle had a superb game, and Will Potter
scored his 15th try of the season.
Not at our best against Queen's, we still
produced a convincing win. Queen's showed
determination and spirit, but couldn't prevent us
running out eventual 53-5 winners. And it was
a six-try 32-0 win to finish against Taunton
School. Hamish Manger was man of the
match, while Will Potter scored twice yet again!

Albert Healey finds
plenty of support
against Queen's I
t was a gutsy performance against
Canford to kick off the Bs' season, and
we did well to go into half-time just
10-7 down. Callum Matthews scored
our try, Albert Healey was excellent in
attack, and George Lumley tackled his
heart out. We were ravaged by injury against
Clifton, and lost out to a stronger and more
physical side. George Lumley and Albert
Healey were the pick of our players.
Though still much depleted at Wellington, we
nonetheless played with great spirit, especially
in the second half, when there were tries for
Will Fung and Max Molle. And we came
second again the following Saturday to strong
Blundell's opposition, but it was a spirited
performance by the whole team. Against
Cheltenham we lacked neither for spirit nor
effort, but were well beaten to be honest by the
better team. The scoreline against Bristol
Grammar School did nothing to reflect another
gutsy performance. Aaron Dobie, Alex Sherred,
Sam Hawkes and Ed Warmington all played
out of their skins. It was tough work too at
Monmouth, but a committed second-half
performance made Monmouth work hard for
their scores.
Finally at full strength for the Queen's fixture,
we produced an impressive display of open
running rugby to win 57-0. But we then
reverted to making too many errors in our final
match of the season against Taunton School,
which allowed the opposition to gain the
initiative and win narrowly 12-7. But it was
nonetheless a thoroughly enjoyable season
which had many highlights.
