T
he Under 15s started their
season with confidence and
skill, but conceded twice in
five minutes against Wycliffe,
despite stout defending by
George Pritchard. Alvaro
Contreras began to establish himself in
midfield, and George Lumley's pace caused the
opposition problems, but we couldn't find the
back of the net.
A positive, committed performance gave a
strong Monmouth side a competitive game,
with Alvaro Contreras showing real composure
in midfield. Joss Philp went extremely close in
the dying minutes, while both Bryn Llewellyn
and Neil Brand showed great commitment to
the cause.
We competed well against what Sherborne
regarded as their strongest year group. Despite
scoring first through Joss Philp, we could not
keep out the opposition for long, and it was a
difficult afternoon.
Lots of hard work in training finally paid off
with a dominant 8-0 win against Blundell's,
including four goals by Joss Philp, with further
contributions from MC Lerthamkajon, Bond
Heepkoksong, Conor Bannister and Will Potter.
Against Marlborough we were
never out of the game, and
showed how much we had
come on during the term, with
a goal for man of the match
Bryn Llewellyn. Bryn also
worked hard to cross the ball
for Henry Willis to add our
second. We had good
chances to score again, but
couldn't quite make them
count.
George Lumley scored to grab
some consolation against
Clifton, the Under 15 league
champions, as our eventful
and enjoyable season drew to
a close.

Under 15s
Round-up
The 3rd XI had three fixtures, starting brightly against
Wycliffe, but we were gradually worn down by increasingly
confident opposition. Will Duncan scored our goal after an
excellent George Hall cross.
We then dominated our game against QEH Bristol, and
made sure of an excellent 3-1 win with a spectacular volley
by Henry Robinson, and further goals by Nick Mason and
David McNeill.
We found ourselves four goals down against a more
experienced Blundell's side, but a neat finish by Will
Duncan opened our account early in the second half. Hugo
Segrave made it two with a great shot, before Toby Catton
hit the strike of the match, a fantastic shot from the edge of
the box to find the back of the net off the far post.
In their first match together, the Under 15 Bs took part in
an incredibly good-spirited, well-fought game against
Monmouth. Playing eight Under 14s, we gradually settled
into a pattern of play - skipper Callum McPhee led well by
example, and Cameron Barclay was resolute in defence.
In the Under 14s' first fixture, we had to defend well after
conceding an early goal, Andy Coombs levelling the score on
the stroke of half-time. We were rewarded in the second
half by a Callum McPhee strike, and then his brilliantly
taken corner was headed home by Toby Johnson - a
thoroughly deserved 3-1 win and an outstanding all-round
team performance.
Goals by Ed Blowers and skipper Callum McPhee were not
enough to beat an experienced Blundell's side - Alvaro
Contreras and Henry Breeze with strong performances here.
And in our final game, it was an excellent team performance
to restrict a powerful Clifton side to a narrow 2-1 defeat.
