T
he Under 15s had a terrific
season - their only defeat
coming in the opening match
against Wellington by just a
single set. Although rain
prevented the Taunton School
fixture from reaching its finish, it was a terrific
performance to beat Blundell's 6-3. Tarn
McIntosh and Victoria Smith, and Gussy
Hydleman and Minnie Taylor played a great
round of matches, winning against every pair.
Just before half-term, we had another terrific
win, beating a strong Canford team 7-2.
Minnie Taylor and Yasmin Wolfe marched on
unbeaten! And they continued their winning
ways after half-term against Millfield in an
outstanding win, with the result going down to
the final match. Yasmin and Minnie kept their
cool to win convincingly 6-2, capping a great
team performance.
An excellent final round of matches in the last
fixture of the season at Queen's saw us clinch a
very pleasing 6-3 win. In a closely fought last
set, Minnie Taylor and Yasmin Wolfe won on a
nailbiting tie-break, to finish the season with
the remarkable record of having lost only one
set of tennis all season!
I
t was a terrific start to the season for
the Bs, winning 8-1 against Wellington,
with Amelia Clark and Rosita Dymond
losing only three games all afternoon.
We suffered a reverse though a few
days later against Blundell's, when we
lost a closely fought match 5-4, with the result
going down to the last game. Amelia Clark and
Chantal Fifield though worked well together and
won every match.
Against Canford we shared the same result as
the As - a resounding 7-2 win! Chantal Fifield
and Amelia Clark continued their winning
streak, while Lucy Mead and Rosita Dymond
won all their sets. There was another terrific
win too against Millfield, the 8-1 result
reflecting just how well the team played. Mimi
Clark and Chantal Fifield continued unbeaten as
partners!
We ended our season with a tight fixture at
Queen's, and unfortunately came out just on the
wrong side of the result. Chantal Fifield and
Lucy Mead worked well together though, losing
only narrowly in a tie-break in their last set of
the season.
