I
t was a successful start to the season
for the Under 14s, beating Wellington
comfortably. The As and the Bs
together dropped only four sets out of
the 18 played! Leea Dod and Elena
Close won all their matches, losing just
two games in the process.
And it was a similarly successful afternoon
against Taunton School, some intelligent and
powerful play contributing to a 7-2 win. After
another comfortable win
against Blundell's, it was a
tougher afternoon against
Canford, with some very
closely fought matches, even
though we eventually just lost
out. Elena Close and Leea
Dod narrowly missed out on
some wins, with two of their
matches going down to the
final games.
It was another tough afternoon against Millfield,
but the margin of defeat does not reflect the
closeness of the matches, five of them ending 6-4.
Saving the best till last, we finished the season
with an outstanding afternoon at Queen's,
where we won 8-1. Elena Close and Annie
O'Neill formed a great partnership, winning two
of their sets 6-0, to end a successful and
enjoyable first season of tennis at King's.
T
he Bs started their season
with a comfortable victory
against Wellington, followed
by a much closer affair
against Taunton School,
where we had to settle for a
tightly contested 5-4 win. After another easy
win against Blundell's, we found ourselves up
against really strong opposition in the Canford
fixture. We found the windy conditions difficult
to master, but kept on fighting to the end with
terrific team spirit.
By the time of the Millfield fixture, we were
proving unstoppable, winning 5-4. Olivia
Murray and Louisa Cave at this stage of the
season were still yet to lose a set!
To finish our season, we beat Queen's with a
terrific team performance. Louisa Cave and
Olivia Murray dropped only three games in
three sets as the team recorded an excellent
7-2 win. We're already looking forward to a
similarly successful season next year!
