I have long had a passion
for property, and worked
as an estate agent in the
Perigord Noir before joining
Leggett fi ve years ago. I
chose Leggett because they
off ered fl exibility, and I
could do something I loved
and organise my workload
around my young family
- my boys are now 13 and 14. Working from
home means I can be an effective full-time agent and still
defrost the chicken and hang out the washing! Leggett also
appealed because the company is excellent at marketing, I
was a marketing executive in the UK before coming to France,
and I identifi ed with the proactivity that Leggett demonstrates.
There have been some challenges in the last few years, not least
Brexit, but this has not stopped Leggett from investing heavily
in marketing. Being an estate agent has enriched family life,
my husband's business benefi ts from my activity as he installs
satellite TV/WiFi for all my clients. Now he has a massive client
base in the area and often helps me with mandate leads. We live
in the famous market town of Sarlat and have made many
friends from the people who have settled here. I try to include
new arrivals in the local events such as the Fête de la Musique,
Journées du Patrimoine, or local music gigs, and it gives me
a lot of pleasure to look around the room and see a bunch of
former clients who are now friends with me and each other. My
daily routine usually begins when the boys have headed off for
school, and after catching up with emails and admin, I typically
make my fi rst appointment of the day at 10.00 am. I fi nd the
properties are more attractive once the sun is properly up
and the clients more awake after a cup of coff ee! Recently, I
spent an afternoon mandating a property in a lovely position
overlooking the Château-des-Milandes, where I noted details,
measured the rooms, and took photos. Photos are increasingly
important at creating a good fi rst impression for buyers searching
on the internet, and Leggett is on the cutting-edge of 360°
videos, drone, and 3D mapping. I can, without hesitation, say that
I love my job. Yes, there are moments when it's frustrating, and
being remunerated by commission requires careful management.
I have also learned not to panic if there aren't many sales in the
pipeline. Hard work pays off, and property sales can be a lot
like buses - they come all at once!
