LEGGETT IMMOBILIER - LOCAL KNOWLEDGE YOU CAN TRUST 17

Happy clients -
Francesca and Steve
Pangli
Having established our business in
France in Les Trois Vallées in 2010, my
husband and I have remained here
ever since, rather than returning 'home'
to the UK, except on 'holidays' ! Our business is a
catered ski chalet company, called Powder N Shine,
and during our second season, we decided that we
wanted to have a more concrete base, rather than
living in the chalets during the off-seasons.
To that end, we contacted our local Leggett
Agent - mostly just to test the water to see
what was available for our forecast budget.
Soon after making the initial contact, we were
shown around a number of properties in the
local area, and we fell in love immediately
with the one that is now our house!
The village is beautiful, quiet and traditional and within perfect
striking distance of
our chalets (10 minutes in the car). Both being
able to speak French certainly has helped us
as most of the village-dwellers are Bellevillois
(from the Belleville valley) and have been
here for generations. However, not speaking
the language would not be too big a hurdle to
overcome as many of the younger generations
are beginning to learn to speak English - an
important string in the bow, especially during
the winter season when the valley is invaded
by skiers. It also depends on what you are
looking to do with a property here. Because of
the skiing, it is possible to have rental properties, second
(or third!) homes, or an apartment
as a base for hitting the slopes.
In terms of our experience with Leggett,
I cannot recommend them highly enough.
The whole process was seamless from initial
contact, right through the search, to the contractual dotting of i's and crossing
of t's with
the notaires. All of the categories I mentioned
above are more than adequately covered by
the team of Agents and the level of information given
at each stage was excellent. There
was also a mortgage broker we were put in
touch with and an estimation of rental income
the properties could have achieved. Heather,
our Agent, really did go over and above to
ensure we found what we wanted and now,
almost two years on, we are still eternally
grateful for her astute and thorough work.
Francesca Pangli - now a resident of Les Granges,
just above St Martin de Belleville in Savoie (moved
in at the end of June 2012)
red tape might seem infuriating
at times, remember the French
find it infuriating too. As an outsider,
you must adapt to local
ways; do not expect local ways
to adapt to you.
France is a wonderful place
to live. Property is generally far
cheaper here, and the wideopen countryside
means you
have plenty of room to move
and breathe.
Time is measured by the
seasons. People greet each other in the street;
they talk about
the mushrooms they found in
the woods. They watch for the
cranes to fly over, and discuss
the return of summer. I would
not live anywhere else.
