SPORT BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT
BA (HONS)
This degree is designed to provide you with the
knowledge and understanding of some of the
principal aspects of business and management in the
context of sport. You will consider the importance
of sport for the welfare of individuals and groups in
society and how, as a manager, you can respond
effectively to their needs. The programme aims to
provide you with a coherent, academically rigorous
and vocationally relevant education, which will
enable you to become a critical and reflective
manager in an increasingly complex and challenging
industry. An exploration of the barriers to
participation in sport, and some of the key
contemporary issues facing the industry, will be
tackled with an emphasis throughout the
programme on employable knowledge.
SPORT STUDIES BA (HONS)
This programme of study examines the
development and cultural significance of sport in
modern societies. It aims to provide a coherent,
academically rigorous and vocationally relevant
education, which will enable you to be a critical and
reflective member of the sport industry. You should
have a keen interest in the organisation,
administration and structure of sport and how sport
can help to form and become a part of self-identity.
Successful completion of the programme will equip
you with the necessary knowledge and skills that will
facilitate entry into a wide range of careers, such as
sport development, sport policy-making and sport
management.
SPORT, LIFESTYLE AND CULTURE
BA (HONS)
Sport, Lifestyle and Culture examines how
individuals engage with sport as part of their
everyday life experience. The programme focuses
on the extent to which individuals engage in sport to
maintain appropriate levels of physical activity and a
healthy body across their life spans. The diversity of
sporting activities is considered, as are strategies
designed to promote participation in sport as an
important component of policies developed to raise
society's commitment to healthy living. The
programme is designed to appeal to you if you wish
to understand and study the role of sport as an
integral element of healthy living for all age groups.
SPORTS MEDIA BA (HONS)†
This course focuses on producing mediated sport
content across digital platforms and sharing this with
specific audiences. Students work with both the
University's Institute of Sport and with external
clients, acquiring valuable skill-sets in sports media
production, researching, reporting, script-writing,
broadcasting, editing, directing, presenting, designing,
webcasting and social media as well as developing
knowledge of the sports industry, sports marketing
and communication.
Our Sport Business and Managment students learn about
business operations at the Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex.
