POLITICS BSC (HONS)
On this degree course, you will be introduced to

political life in the UK and address international
relations, defence and foreign policy. You can select
work placements at political institutions, take master
classes provided by international guest speakers
from academia and politics, as well as engage in
credited study visits to British, European and
international institutions. The course organisation is
designed for you to map clearly your development
through to graduation. First-year modules provide
introductions to studying politics, including British
politics, International Relations and Area Studies,
(such as the Middle East, Africa, Asia or Europe).
Second-year modules include the study of realworld
politics, such as regional government, political
organisation, policy, think tanks, defence and
security. Third-year modules offer you key interdisciplinary
knowledge valued by employers, such as
International Law, International Economics and
Foreign and Security Policy.
POLITICS AND INTERNATIONAL
RELATIONS BA (HONS)†
This specialised degree will provide you with an
exclusive focus on political science and the growing
field of International Relations. Here you will gain
degree-level skills in understanding British and Area
Studies politics (such as the Middle East, Africa, Asia
or Europe) alongside more detailed understanding
of the practice and theory of International Relations,
including themes such as statecraft, diplomacy, game
theory, war studies, security and defence policy, as
well as classic international relations subjects:
international organisations, international law, state
relations, and crisis resolution. The programme
combines case study and role play work with
historical context and an introduction to the
theories of international relations. Students also
interested in Modern History will be able to select
modules from this area.
