MUSIC BA (HONS)
Our three-year BA (Hons) Music programme is one
of the largest and liveliest in the UK and focuses on
music as an applied art. This means that our Music
courses are focused on practical work, with
specialist routes available in: performance;
composition and improvisation; musical theatre;
instrumental or vocal teaching; music business and
community music.
PERFORMANCE BMUS (HONS)
This performance degree is a four-year
conservatoire-style programme which gives you
extensive individual tuition in instrumental and/or
vocal performance throughout your degree. It is
comparable to the levels that you would receive in a
conservatoire, alongside chamber music, ensemble
or orchestral coaching.
ORCHESTRAL PERFORMANCE
BMUS (HONS)
This specialist degree is a four-year conservatoire
style programme which gives you extensive individual
tuition in instrumental performance throughout your
degree, specific training in orchestral performance,
excerpt preparation, opportunities to work with a
range of distinguished conductors and soloists, and
significant orchestral experience with performances
in the UK and overseas.
INSTRUMENTAL TEACHING
BMUS (HONS)
Instrumental Teaching is an important career option for
the teacher-performer and our four-year BMus (Hons)
Instrumental Teaching is particularly designed to equip
you for a career as a visiting teacher and as a teacher in
your own private practice alongside developing your
skills as an active professional performer. You will have
individual instrumental tuition, join the orchestras and
other ensembles, and participate in chamber music and
band work at the University.
