ACTING BA (HONS)†
BA (Hons) Acting is a practical performance-based programme,
running in parallel to the established and successful BA (Hons) Theatre.
You will become a member of a shared creative community, where
cultural identity, experimentation and research are central to the
process of making live and recorded theatre and related arts. The
programme recognises the importance of craft and technique, but also
of critical thinking, in relation to the performer at the heart of the
creative process of theatre. You will work with established text and
develop understanding of key acting styles and contexts; you will also
work to produce and perform in original work and develop highly
relevant professional contacts that set you up for demanding, diverse
and flexible careers in the performing arts.
THEATRE BA (HONS)
Our BA (Hons) Theatre is the leading undergraduate programme for
engaged and practical theatre-making in a university context. It is a
highly practical programme that will enable you to create an extensive
portfolio of theatre pieces in a wide variety of contexts. Almost all of
these plays and performances will be rooted in original ideas that have
been decided by you and your fellow students, emerging from exciting
debates and interactions that form the basis of our workshop teaching.
You will present your work in the ShowRoom, our professional theatre,
and in other highly-specialised spaces, using high-quality production
resources and equipment. The ShowRoom forms the hub of a vibrant
community of artists - students, staff and professional associates -
who share ideas, mentor one another, and contribute to what is one of
the most vibrant creative environments for theatre making in the
country. Over the last five years, the BA programme has had the most
consistent overall student satisfaction score of any drama programme
in the country. If you see yourself creating original theatre, in a wide
variety of contexts, as a dynamic and empowering starting point for a
career in theatre, come along and meet us!
