FUNDING FOR FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME
STUDENTS.
With almost a third of our students studying part-time, we have the infrastructure and the
experience to support you if this is your preferred route.
PART-TIME TUITION FEE LOANS
Eligible part-time undergraduate students are able to apply for a tuition fee loan to
meet the cost of their fees in the same way as a full-time undergraduate.
To qualify for a fee loan, part-time study must be at least 25 percent intensity of a
full-time programme. The tuition fee loan is paid directly to the University.
Repayments begin when you start earning more than £21,000 per year and then at a
rate of 9 percent of earnings above the £21,000 threshold. Tuition fee loans are
liable to interest.
ACCESS TO LEARNING FUND
The Access to Learning Fund (ALF) is often able to provide financial awards towards
general living costs to those on lower incomes. You can apply to be considered for the
ALF general hardship award once you have been assessed for full-time or part-time
funding for the fee loan and have received back your financial notification from Student
Finance England. Please pick up application forms for the ALF from the Support and
Information Zone in our Learning Resource Centres or download from
www.chi.ac.uk/moneyadvice.
BRITISH ASSOCIATION FOR COUNSELLING AND
PSYCHOTHERAPY BURSARY
If you are a Humanistic Counselling student on the Degree or Diploma course, limited
funds are offered as bursaries to students on accredited counselling courses by the
British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). You can apply for a
BACP bursary but the deadline for applications is usually in July before the start of the
academic year. It may be worth applying for a bursary from the BACP for your second
year. Application forms and information about eligibility criteria are posted online in
March. Please see the BACP website for details: wwwk.smale@chi.ac.ukp>
