CREATIVE WRITING AND ENGLISH
BA (HONS)
This course is an exciting blend of creative and
critical practice. Chichester has one of the most
established courses in Creative Writing and English
in the whole of the United Kingdom and many of
our students go on to publish and win prizes. You
will work with poets, novelists, short story writers
and dramatists to hone your skills as a writer.
Courses in Years One and Two introduce you to the
basics of good writing across a range of genres. By
Year Three, we expect you to be able to specialise
in two or more genres. Third year courses include:
Writing the Novel, Writing the Short Story, Writing
for the Stage, Writing for the Screen, Writing for
Children, Writing Fantasy and Science Fiction and
Advanced Poetry. In addition to creative writing
courses, you will study literature and language as we
believe that in order to become a good writer you
need to read widely and have a deep knowledge of
how literature works. You may therefore choose
from a range of critical modules from the English
Literature, Language and Drama pathways.
