LIFE WITH US IS ALL
ABOUT VARIETY: FROM
CHICHESTER'S RICH HERITAGE
TO BOGNOR'S BUSTLING
BEACH, THERE'S ALWAYS
SOMETHING NEW
TO EXPLORE.
CULTURE
Both Chichester and Bognor Regis offer historic,
vibrant environments with plenty of culture to
explore. Chichester Festival Theatre and its smaller
sibling, the Minerva Theatre, produces plays, from
classics to contemporary, as well as musicals and a
wide range of other productions.
The Regis Centre in Bognor is a multi-purpose arts
centre and is also home to the Alexandra Theatre, a
364-seat venue that hosts events from pantomimes
to classical music concerts. The Centre also
encompasses a gallery and a studio, in which art
works are displayed.
Chichester has many fantastic galleries including the
Pallant House Gallery, which holds one of the most
celebrated collections of twentieth century art in the
country and the Oxmarket Centre of the Arts which
hosts exhibitions by local artists and art organisations.
In addition, our own Otter Gallery, stituated on the
Bishop Otter Campus, is home to an extensive
collection of art that includes work across all
disciplines. The Gallery host a varied programme of
exhibitions, including the Fine Art degree exhibition,
as well as events and workshops.
At 900 years-old and looming high above the city
centre, Chichester Cathedral is the city's most
imposing landmark. The Cathedral also hosts
concerts throughout the year, including the
University's Carols and Gala Concert.
Our Bognor Regis Campus is a short walk from
Butlins, which has a huge range of facilities including
a waterpark, a spa, and an assortment of
restaurants. The campus is also located close to the
picturesque Hotham Park, which runs events
throughout the year.
SHOPPING AND EATING OUT
Both Chichester and Bognor Regis have large
pedestrianised shopping areas with an array of large
high street shops, complemented by small,
independent stores and boutiques. On the second
and fourth Fridays of the month, Chichester hosts a
farmers' market, where you can sample and buy
locally-produced food. From pubs and studentfriendly
chain restaurants to intimate coffee shops
and unique eateries - whether you want a midshopping
pit-stop, a break between lectures, or an
evening meal - you will find an abundance of choice.
NIGHTLIFE
Don't let size fool you; there really is something for
everyone across our two locations! The local area
offers a wide variety of pubs and bars, from rustic
pubs offering local ales to modern bars offering
large screen sports or live music. Both campuses are
near theatres, cinemas and nightclubs and we offer
an excellent range of on-campus entertainment. See
page 152 to 157 for more information about the
Students' Union. The Students' Union is a safe and
friendly environment that is competitively priced and
aimed specifically at the student population.
