STUDYING HERE
We pride ourselves on the quality of the learning
environment we have created for our students.
At both campuses, there is an integrated approach
to the provision of learning resources and support,
enabling all students to:
• find a substantial collection of books, journals and
other materials in their respective subjects at the
appropriate campus
• use a range of study areas for group and quiet
study including Wi-Fi areas for laptop use
• find an open access PC or Apple Mac to
undertake their course work, use the University
Virtual Learning Environment and intranet with a
range of general and specialist software
• receive help from a team of support and
information advisors, subject librarians, IT and
media technicians and academic skills support staff
• use an electronic learning environment with an
expanding portfolio of online library resources
from anywhere at any time
SUPPORT AND INFORMATION ZONE
The Support and Information Zone (SIZ) is your
first point of contact for many University services
and is available for extended hours, weekdays and
weekends, to support and advise you. There is a SIZ
desk in each of the Learning and Resource Centres
(LRCs) and you can contact SIZ by telephone, email
and self-service. At each SIZ there are friendly
support staff able to assist with general queries
relating to IT, the library, the academic registry or
finance and they can provide access to audio/visual
equipment. For more complex IT and library issues
SIZ can arrange for specialist staff to assist and train
you in making the most of all LRC resources. SIZ
can also help you make appointments for a full range
of student support services (careers, disability and
dyslexia support, international and financial support,
counselling and health advice).
