WELCOME TO OUR
PROSPECTUS
If you are reading this you will be considering
whether or not going to university is right for you
and if Chichester could provide what you are
looking for. In this Prospectus we suggest that
you 'picture yourself at Chichester'.
Choosing a university is one of the most important
choice points in your life and the good news is that
you are going about things in the right way - reading
up on what each university has to offer and
matching what we each say about ourselves to your
personal aspirations and your needs. It is vital that
you get this match right - let me illustrate why.
Chichester receives thousands of applications every
year through the UCAS system and we have filled
our course places such that over the last five years,
our full-time student body has grown by 26 per cent.
What is truly remarkable is that nearly every student
who has come to Chichester in that period selected
us as their first choice institution.
But the point is not so much that they chose
Chichester, rather that they chose the university that
was right for them. Students who choose the
university that best matches their needs are more
likely to enjoy their experience of undergraduate
study. Students who are happy are more likely to be
successful in their studies and less likely to drop out.
That is why the University of Chichester was so
pleased to be named the country's 'Best University
for Student Retention' in the Sunday Times Good
University Guide 2014 (and was placed second
nationally in 2015).
In 2015 we were also named in the Sunday Times
'Top Twenty Universities for Student Satisfaction'. So,
students who come here, enjoy their experience.
In the last National Student Survey (2014)
recent graduates were asked to agree or
disagree with the statement: 'The course has
helped me to present myself with confidence'.
Chichester scored 6th highest out of the 152
institutions surveyed for this question. So,
students who graduate from Chichester enter
the job market with significant personal skills
adding value to their degree qualifications in the
eyes of employers.
When I talk to our students about what it is that
they like about our University they always cite the
sense of belonging that goes with being part of a
small community and the support that they get
from a well-qualified staff who know them
individually by name.
Chichester is a modern University with a history
of delivering higher education that goes back to
1850. Both our beautiful campuses contain
historic and state-of-the art buildings in a blend of
old and new that create the sense of community
that we encourage. In making this important
decision, do come and visit us on one of our
Open Days, meet the staff and students and take
in the 'feel' of the place.
That way you can 'picture yourself at Chichester'.
