The Sport and Exercise Science (SES) degree
programmes are designed to allow those wanting
to combine a strong interest in science with the
study of sport performance, health-related
physical activity or coaching. The degrees offer
the choice of full time study over three or four
years, depending on whether you choose to study
the BSc or MSci degree. In a generic first year you
will explore the core sport sciences of physiology,
biomechanics, and psychology accompanied by
research methods training before deciding on a
specialist route through to your final degree (BSc
or MSci). In years two and three of the BSc you
can specialise in Sports Performance, Physical
Activity for Health or Coaching. The MSci route
will allow you to continue to develop generic and
specific knowledge and hands-on skills with
additional opportunities for further specialism in
specific areas through to Masters level. You will
also conduct an original research project in an
area of your choice, which forms the basis of
your final year dissertation.
